PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate)

PBT is known as “industrial skeleton combining rigidity and toughness”. Core features: excellent mechanical properties with high strength, high rigidity and outstanding fatigue resistance (tensile strength can reach 170 MPa upon glass‑fiber reinforcement). It delivers superior electrical insulation that stays stable under high‑temperature and high‑humidity conditions. It features good heat resistance with long‑term service temperature of 120‑140 °C; its heat‑distortion temperature rises substantially with glass‑fiber filling. It also has favorable processability with fast crystallization rate, good fluidity and short molding cycle. Its main limitations are high tendency to warpage (especially neat resin), notch‑sensitive impact performance, and poor resistance to strong acids and strong alkalis.

Main Applications

Electrical & electronics (more than 50% of total consumption): widely used for connectors, relays, switches, cooling fans, transformer bobbins, energy‑saving lamp bases and various insulating components.

Automotive industry (approximately 24%): window motor housings, lamp reflectors, gearbox parts, junction boxes, sensors and multiple heat‑resistant and oil‑resistant components.

Industrial & consumer goods: optical‑fiber sleeves, pump assemblies, medical‑device housings, power‑tool housings, ice‑skate soles and other products.
